Niger-born Tuareg guitarist inspired by the wizardry of Saharan blues rock bands like Tinariwen, Omar Moctar (a.k.a. Bombino) has helped make African music more relatable to the rest of the world, thanks to both his own instrumental gifts and to collaborators like 2013 Grammy Award-winning Producer of the Year Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys who produced his new album Nomad, which was recorded at his Nashville studio.

Nomad debuted at #1 on the Billboard World Music album chart and iTunes World chart and has earned rave reviews from top media outlets around the world including BBC World Service, which calls it “utterly, utterly fantastic” and Rolling Stone, which calls Nomad “a perfect match of sound and soul [that] introduces a new guitar hero.” His dazzling live performance and virtuosity on the guitar have led notable music critics to compare him to Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Neil Young, and Jerry Garcia.

Samito is a Montreal singer and songwriter born in Maputo. He moved to Montreal in early 2005 and has since worked with Pierre Kwenders, Nom de Plume, Radio Radio, Jahnice, Hans Wilwright, among others.

Inspired by african aesthetics his music explores old and new sounds to create songs that while simple, are unique in texture. At its core remains a solid groove combined with soulful melodies and lyrics mostly sang in Portuguese and Chitswa.

Samito is set to release his debut album in 2014, in collaboration with Stonetree Records.
