We all probably spend too much time online, reading the news, aimlessly scrolling through Instagram, sexting, listening to our favorite podcasts… but isn’t it so much better and more thrilling to experience things IRL?

On February 19th, Chosen Family invites you all to the Phi Centre for a very special live audience recording of their next episode. Like the podcast itself, this event will feature live comedy, live music, an in-depth conversation with an incredible guest (you’ll have to stay tuned for their identity) and of course, your fabulous hosts, Tranna Wintour and Thomas Leblanc, in the flesh! It’s going to be so real, you can reach out and touch them (but don’t).

What's on:

  • A discussion with director and writer Chloé Robichaud and comedian (and director) Alexa-Jeanne Dubé for the second season of the Féminin/féminin webseries (in French);
  • A performance by stand-up comedian and Cult MTL contributor Ellie MacDonald;
  • A performance by local electro-pop artist AWWFUL.

Since the podcast launched in August of last year, Chosen Family has received glowing reviews and welcomed some truly extraordinary guests including Jen Kirkman, John Cameron Mitchell, Eileen Myles, Christiane Charette, and Sandra Bernhard, to name just a few. Chosen Family: IRL promises to be a hilarious, irreverent, and uplifting night, centered around art, love, and drama—it’s the family gathering you actually don’t want to miss!

Chosen Family

Tranna and Thomas have been unstoppable since the 2016 launch of their bilingual cabaret events, two of which have been featured in Just For Laughs' Zoofest/OFF-JFL comedy festival. After creating highly anticipated live shows, they bring their unique take on contemporary culture online. "The current political climate might be bleak and uncertain," says Tranna Wintour, "but we know we can make a difference by creating art that is unifying, empowering, and uplifting. We’ll be discussing matters of life, love, culture, and the creative process."

Twice a month, Chosen Family will feature conversations, interviews, live storytelling and cultural commentary. "In our material, Tranna and I both love to go from the personal to the universal and back, and we hope to do just that with Chosen Family," says Thomas Leblanc, who is also a regular contributor to Radio-Canada’s ICI Première.

"We are so thrilled to launch a collaboration with the Phi Centre, THE most innovative environment we could find to expand our take on comedy, storytelling and entertainment. We feel like Céline Dion the first time she stepped onto the stage at Caesar's Palace!" adds Tranna Wintour.
