To celebrate the launch of Chosen Family, Tranna Wintour and Thomas Leblanc will curate a not-to-be missed party on Saturday August 19th at the Phi Centre, with some of the duo’s favorite Montreal musicians: three-piece dark wave act Ghost Love, post-punk sensation Rose Bush, and bedroom electronic chanteuse AWWFUL. The event, happening on the eve of Montréal’s Fierté parade, promises to be an unforgettable celebration of LGBTQ+ chosen families, in the arts and beyond.

Ghost Love is behind Chosen Family’s musical signature. The band’s first EP will launch on August 18th, just in time for their unique performance at the Phi Centre. The video for single One Lands has been directed by Chosen Family co-host Thomas Leblanc.

Rose Bush is a Montreal-based all-female quartet that’s been playing non-stop since the beginning of 2017. Their debut song, Bellow, is a testament to the band’s exciting blend of punk and lo-fi pop.

A pop-obsessed DJ and promising producer/chanteuse, AWWFUL is a fixture on Montreal’s queer club circuit. Their songs BB and Malibu are a refreshing DIY take on new wave.

Chosen Family

Tranna and Thomas have been unstoppable since the 2016 launch of their bilingual cabaret events, two of which have been featured in Just For Laughs' Zoofest/OFF-JFL comedy festival. After creating highly anticipated live shows, they bring their unique take on contemporary culture online. "The current political climate might be bleak and uncertain," says Tranna Wintour, "but we know we can make a difference by creating art that is unifying, empowering, and uplifting. We’ll be discussing matters of life, love, culture, and the creative process."

Twice a month, Chosen Family will feature conversations, interviews, live storytelling and cultural commentary. "In our material, Tranna and I both love to go from the personal to the universal and back, and we hope to do just that with Chosen Family," says Thomas Leblanc, who is also a regular contributor to Radio-Canada’s ICI Première.

"We are so thrilled to launch a collaboration with the Phi Centre, THE most innovative environment we could find to expand our take on comedy, storytelling and entertainment. We feel like Céline Dion the first time she stepped onto the stage at Caesar's Palace!" adds Tranna Wintour.
