In Conversation with Felix Barrett is hosted by actress, director and stage director Brigitte Poupart. Felix will be joined by Hector Harkness, Associate Director at Punchdrunk International.

Celebrated British creator Felix Barrett, founder and artistic director of the company Punchdrunk, invites Montrealers to join him for an evening exploring his unique approach to theatre, which has garnered worldwide critical acclaim.

For almost 20 years, Punchdrunk and Felix Barrett have been redefining the classic theatre experience by transforming abandoned buildings into epic and sensory spaces where audiences can roam freely. This personalized and interactive style of theatre rejects the passive obedience usually expected of audiences, inviting them to rediscover the childlike excitement of exploring the unknown. Along the way, the company and its artistic director have chalked up a string of hit shows and awards, with productions like The Duchess Of Malfi with the English National Opera, The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable, and the highly successful Sleep No More, a film noir adaptation of Macbeth that has been delighting audiences and critics (The New York Times, The Guardian, etc.) from New York to Shanghai since 2011. Sleep No More has won a Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience and a Special Citation For Design And Choreography at the Obie Awards.

Barrett has invented a genre of theatre that combines classic works, physical performances, cinematographic set design, and offbeat spaces that put audiences at the heart of the narrative.

These exciting and innovative initiatives will provide plenty of fuel for discussion between Felix, Hector and the Montreal audience in the intimate setting of the Phi Centre. The evening promises to be as vibrant and captivating as the work of Punchdrunk itself.

Please note that the conference will be held in English.

This event will be filmed, and webcast on a future date. A photographer will also be onsite.
