Mykki Blanco drops her first 2013 release her debut EP Betty Rubble: The Initiation out on UNO NYC/Mykki Music. Featuring executive production by Sinden as well as A-Trak & Oligee, Supreme Cuts, Matrixxman (of 5kin&Bone5), Sinden himself and vocalist Ian Isiah, Betty Rubble concretes Mykki’s place as New York’s visceral story teller, on par with Blanco’s signature aesthetics seen on Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss.
On the eve of her Village Voice cover story and “Feeling Special” Video – the EP is now Streaming on Pitchfork Advance. Mykki Blanco has this to say about the EP:
“The Initiation EP is aptly titled as I feel the music on this release is my way of initiating listeners into the lyricism and storytelling, the hard hitting rhymes and tripped out cadences that have become the signatures of what make the Mykki Blanco sound. I know that I can be a chameleon but this EP peels back the layers of persona to reveal to you Mykki Blanco the rapper and nothing else. You can love it or hate it but this is HIP HOP.”
