A series of rooftop concerts at the PHI Centre

Free Admission

PHI Centre
315, Saint-Paul Ouest
Montréal (Québec) H2Y 2M3

An air of renewal overlooks Montreal. In the slightest particle of light, in the slightest semblance of smile, the city is reborn. At the heart of this surge of optimism, PHI propagates a powerful art in the form of a musical epic. The roof of the Centre is being transformed to become the home of a new energy, with a festive concert series gathering local artists.

Sonication is a hybrid experience, halfway between a film set and a festive happening. While the performances played on the roof are retranscribed on screens throughout the PHI Centre, aesthetes and music lovers are invited to take part in a mosaic of animations within the building. A programme rich in artistic promise, between discovery, playful indulgence and relaxation.

Each series of the odyssey is a surreal and multicoloured chapter, a moment of grandiose reconnection between artists and audience. Throughout the summer, in an atmosphere of artistic freedom, let's celebrate together the human being and his desire for communion through music. For the first series of Sonication, the following artists will take part in the celebration:

Sarahmée was the first hip-hop artist to be nominated in the category of Newcomer of the Year at the Gala de l'Adisq, and was featured in the opening number of the Gala broadcast live on Radio-Canada television.

Pierre Kwenders fluidly dismantles boundaries of genre, country and culture in his inventive indie-Afro electro sound, merging Western and African styles into warm grooves punctuated by impassioned vocals. Born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, as José Louis Modabi, Pierre Kwenders (his grandfather's name, chosen in legacy) sings and raps in Lingala, French, English, Tshiluba and Kikongo, mining the languages' lyrical and aesthetic distinctions for peak emotional resonance.
