A composer and sound artist who has developed a neoelectronic aesthetic, Tim Hecker produces a hybrid music often described as "cathedral electronic music."He likes to play in the dark. His performance Fog Works II lets the music take over the whole space and offers an experience of total listening. The amplified sound unfurls its power in the darkened room.
Fog Works II is a new immersive, multi-sensory concert event by Tim Hecker, commissioned by POP Montreal for the festival's 14th edition. The one night only event will challenge the live music experience by plunging festival goers into a dream-like, controlled atmosphere of dense fog, experimental perfume, undulating light and high-decibel sound. Hecker will perform brand new music.
Fog Work II's experimental interplay of sight, sound and smell called Drone–a "conceptual scent" designed by Berlin-based perfumer Geza Schoen, based on raw sonic material provided by Tim Hecker, and created for Unsound Festival's Ephemera series.
This work was made possible by generous support from the Canada Council for the Arts.
