Since the beginning of the confinement, PHI has led innovative initiatives on virtual platforms, continuing to provide accessibility to art and to offer a creative exchange with artists and the public. After fostering this dialogue virtually, PHI is now working towards inviting visitors back to experience art inside its Old Montreal locations.

The DESTINATION: PHI program, which includes a dozen multidisciplinary formats (concerts, screenings, installations, etc.) presented in the physical and virtual creative spaces of the PHI umbrella. From the Centre to the Foundation, the trip will be personal to all.

“It’s with great care and enthusiasm that the PHI teams are preparing to welcome the public in our physical spaces to allow them to experience works in their material and sensorial forms. In the virtual world and in the real world, PHI continues to be a catalyst for dialogue between contemporary artists and the public, keeping the connection alive and inspiring while also strengthening PHI’s dedication to fostering dynamic exchange in a radically inclusive way.”

- Phoebe Greenberg, founder and director of PHI

PHI continues to bring art and the experience of art to life by presenting two summer exhibitions:

At the PHI Centre from June 24th to September 6th

The PHI Centre spaces will be devoted to a major exhibition showcasing digital works and innovative installations, many of which are created by Quebec artists.

At the PHI Foundation for Contemporary Art from July 8th to November 29th

RELATIONS: Diaspora and Painting is a group exhibition that explores the complex and multiple meanings of diaspora, its condition, and its experiences as expressed through painting. Also, the Foundation is now presenting The Aura, a podcast series that takes an inside and outside look at the work of art through interviews with a selection of artists, curators, writers, thinkers, and contemporary art enthusiasts.

*More precise communications about these exhibitions and other summer programming events will be shared in the coming weeks.

The implementation of protective measures respecting the protocol drawn up by public health authorities is at the heart of discussions surrounding the reopening of PHI’s physical spaces. The premises will be designed and arranged to accommodate the public in a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment, providing both an enriching experience and peace of mind.
