The world is a dumpster fire right now, at least according to Thomas Leblanc, but thanks to this week’s inspiring guests—Eileen Myles , Jonathan Van Meter, and Chantel Marostica—Chosen Family rises through the flames.

Tranna has a dream-come-true moment when she gets to talk to Vogue writer, Jonathan Van Meter. Jonathan has written almost every Vogue cover story for the last twenty years including Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton! Tranna and Jonathan go in deep, covering the truth about Anna Wintour, and partying at Oprah’s house!

Chantel Marostica is a trailblazing comedian who tours Canada with their ground-breaking show, Queer and Present Danger. On November 15, Chantel will be performing at The Rivoli in Toronto to raise money for their top surgery, government funding for which is not readily available to gender non-conforming patients. If you’re in Toronto, go and support this brilliant artist! For now, check out one of their performances right here on Chosen Family!

This week’s featured guest is literary legend and New York icon, Eileen Myles. Myles has written over 20 volumes of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, art criticism, and performance pieces. Most notably, their oeuvre complet includes 1994’s landmark, Chelsea Girls, which Myles has recently adapted into a screenplay; I Must Be Living Twice, a poetry restrospective; and their latest book, Afterglow. There’s even a character on Transparent who’s based on them! Myles, Thomas, and Tranna got along like old friends in a deep conversation about life, love, trauma, art, and dreams.

This episode also features the song Sexe Machin/Sex Machine by Jef Ellise Barbara from their Greatest Hits album, which you can buy on bandcamp now!
