The Phi Centre and Valtech are on the lookout for 3 teams ready to make the jump into the world of 360° video production on the theme of “Montreal of the Future.”
As part of the Embodied Narrative: Sensory Stories of theDigital Age, the Phi Centre and Valtech invite artists to conceive and produce a short 360° film lasting no more than 60 seconds on the theme of “Montreal of the Future.” The three winning teams will have their works premiere at the Phi Centre.
The goal of the contest is to identify up-and-coming artists—the 360˚experience creators of tomorrow— who have shown an ability to unite the required artistic, creative, and technical skill. The selected candidates will be given the opportunity to attend an eight-week residency during which they’ll be coached by a dedicated team of directors, producers, technicians, screenwriters, and other mentors.
The three finalist teams will benefit from all the advantages of a mentoring and residency program organized around tailor-made workshops run by influential professionals working in the fields of production, 360˚editing techniques, and more. Equipment, including cameras, viewing equipment, and state-of-the-art computing equipment provided by partners like NVIDIA, will be made available. As a bonus, the three finalist teams will also receive ongoing feedback from the Phi Centre/Valtech community (artistic directors, motion designers, and writers).
Following the eight-week residency, one winning team will receive a grand prize of equipment whose value is still to be determined. The works produced will be screened at the Phi Centre from November 2016 for an undetermined period of time and will be advertised on all digital channels.
